No, just the BBS's and the Anteras getting changed.

silly...

Love the wheel changing shot

Awesome stuff! makes me want to go for silly wheels when mines on coileys:)

Andy they look sweeeet!! I really fancy a set myself, but can't quite justify the £1000-1500 price tag for them! Might go a little narrower too!!

lol think we've found the Scottish Mad Professor

I could be completely wrong here, but I was under the impression it was illegal for the wheels/tyres to extend beyond the outermost part of the wheel well. Am I way off here, but I thought I had heard that somewhere, which might explain why open-wheeled cars like Caterhams have to have fenders. Please enlighten.

And I do like the look of those wheels, if a little on the wide side for my tastes.

One question from a novice, do the wheels actually rotate?

Looks mint on the rs's,you need a set :D

They be good for your handling, but a dramatic reduction in MPG and power. Yes a bit OTT.

Euro style Fabia FTW! Makes me want to find a set of split rims for mine now! The stretch looks awesome but they just stick out too far to be sensible. I run 8" wide wheels on the back of my Polo and I'm always nervous about getting pulled for them!

I think the law states that the tread has to be under the arch which is why people run stretch, but also that the wheels aren't allowed to protrude out by more than 20-25mm (can't remember how much exactly) and I'm right on the borderline with the Polo.

Callum : And the rest, sure he's spent 2k building these.

Im looking into getting a set now. Probs just 8.5's mibby 9's.

Will be along way away though.

SkoDave : As far as im aware as long as the tread is under the arch its all good.

Think about the wheels some vans use, the middle of the wheel sticks out alot.

gilesk : Suprisingly, yes.

Was pretty close to the rear arch liner in the inside, but i did drive it down the street for pictures.

Soot1e : You have your statements muddled up. No decrease in power or mpg.

Less tyre touching the ground. ;) Bit worse for handeling.

Thats why drift cars run strech and camber, so the back end will step out.

Schern : Polo looks good, could be alot lower though. :D

I can only just get it into work as it is because the exhaust hangs really low on it! It's already down about 80mm!

bet that makes it a joy to drive! Do you have any fillings in your teeth? (or has your car shaken them all out?):D

All that weight will slow the car up somewhat and decrease MPG. As for handling usually wider rims and narrower tyres improve it, maybe these wheels are a bit over the top to follow normal rules.

These wheels were the lightest 17's ive ever felt.

And ive been through some wheels.

Possibly even lighter than standard 16" fabia wheels.

fantastic pics Andy mate, some cracking pics and the fabia looks ace on bbs alloys.

How can they be good for handling, When you are getting the same surface area of rubber contacting the road as a 6.5J Wheel ??

Your just stretching the wall of the tyre !!!

I think they look like your wheel Trims are about to Pop off :thumbdwn:

But just my oppinion ..

Dean

Stretched tyres are never put on for handling, its all about the look, poke ftw :P I like these Andy, would be minted in 8 and a halfs all round! :P Im going BBS for the summer, not Rs's though :P

  • 2 weeks later...

Its all about the poke

Silly and daft IMO. You'd have to weld the suspension up or carry adults on the bonnet rather than in the back to avoid scuffing those tyres and the bodywork up something rotten.

And think of the conversations when trying cop a sh*g in the back seat trying to explain the squeaking and groaning noises. :P

Of course, if it's a work-in-progress and he's got 6" blister arches to go over it.... That'd be slightly different.

J.

Or there are two other options

Rock hard suspension

or

Air ride

I have one of the above

Hmm - Sexual!
