Blinking Glow plug light -> problem starting

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I've got a 2.0l TDI Octavia and am having an intermittent problem.. I've taken it to the garage and they connected it to the diagnostics and said nothing was showing and to bring it in when it was showing the problem (a bit difficult as you'll see!)

Occasionally, when I try to start the car (either from cold of after a short stop), the coil light starts to blink, followed by the immobilizer light. If I then turn the key to start the car, it strikes but then immediately cuts out. If I try again, it does the same again. I find that if I leave the car for 5 or 10 minutes and try again, it starts no problem. It happened on the petrol station forecourt over the weekend.. It's happened 3 times in the last 5 weeks (since I've owned the car).

I've tried Googling this but I've not found the same symptoms as I have (other folks seem to have trouble with the engine cutting out whilst running or break light problems without the engine cutting out).

I would be very very thankful for any advice anybody could give...

Cheers

HI

If this was the MK1 Octy , then I would have put it down to the Immobiliser

To be fair , with it starting , then cutting out , again , I would say Immobiliser , a weak signal

May be worth going back to the dealers to see if the Immobilser could be the problem

But I am sure if it was that , there would have been a fault code stored?????

To be fair , even my little Fabia has the same problem :(
