Airbag light on - Seems a common fault but will they fix out of warranty

Featured Replies

Done a search and some reading on here and it looks like the airbag light that suddenly came on on our Octy II is a common fault. Given that it has some proven history, what would be my chances in getting a dealer to repair it even though the warranty is up ? Surely this common fault is a design fault and should be repaired FOC no matter how old, especially on such a critical safety component ? I might email Skoda UK about it before approaching a dealer

Alternatively, I believe it's quite an easy fix, but I will need someone with VAGCOM to reset the warning. Can anyone advise me further on doing this

TIA

Air bag lights are like engine management warning lights and can come on for any number of reasons. Your chances of a good will repair will depend on the actual fault, the number of times that Skoda have encountered this fault and whether the car has a full Skoda service history.

FSSH, but out of warranty. I doubt I'll get anywhere if there are numerous reasons. I would assume that the connector under one of the seats is foobared so I'll have a look at that over the next few days.

it was the drivers seat on my 06 one ... simple to fix just connector had come loose but not sure cant remember if lght goes out on dash ...

its the kids or back seat passengers that try to get their whole leg under the seat is the problem

Audi A3's used to be prone to this too, its normally the plug under one or both of the front seats. Quick fix is some conductivity lube sprayed on the plug, more involved fix is to replace the plug or a more permanent fix is to solder the conenctions together so it never goes faulty again!

Check the connector on the disarming switch in the glove box.:)

Mine came on before, Connectors under the seat needed replacing under warranty. tbh if your car was routinely serviced by a skoda dealer they may do it for you FOC. Why not ring them, if they say no then contact Customer Care and put your case forward.
