Head Unit Trim ??

Featured Replies

Having fitted an RNS-510 I am advised by my local Skoda dealer that the matching trim is only available in black for UK models with single zone A/C

Ideally, I would like to get hold of an aluminium effect trim to match the remainder of the original VRS trim as attached photo

Can anyone help me out here please?

Hi Bud I know that Milotec.de do a trim for the centre unit, Interieur-Dekor

The link is for the web site in Germany, there is another company in the UK rsd-uk.co.uk might be able to get them for you. I bought some interiera trim last year, but I found the site in Germany was alot cheaper due to the exchange rate, but in the current climate I feel you may not see any difference.

Hi Alan, Try a search, I know somone on here brought a black one and spray painted it silver.

I have done a few :)

Got one in the garage iirc, if you do it yourself you need plastic primer and VW satin silver, afaik you can't get the climatic trim for the MFD's in Silver (that's why I did my own and several others) as from the factory as an option it also needed to have dual zone and maxidot.

Hi Fluffmeister

If you do have one - ready finished - it would save me an awful lot of trouble if you are prepared to sell?

Thanks

Pop along to halfords.

You will want to purchase:

Grey plastic primer (can of)

VW Satin Silver (can of)

Clean laquer (can of)

Very fine wet & dry

Apply a thin coat of primer, wet & dry to ensure no bubbles etc and then a second thin coat.

Next start applying coats of VW Satin Silver.

You are going to be applying around 4-5 coats, so don't worry too much if small areas get missed on the first coat.

Go for quick coats, not to thick and keep the can moving so the paint doesn't pool anywhere.

Give each coat around an hour to dry out - I did mine late last year and I placed mine out in the sun between coats for some "sun baking".

Once you are happy with the silver finish, a thin coat of the clear laquer to protect your new paint work.

End result is excellent.

I've painted one up in black magic (see separate thread), but have kept the plain black one just in case I don't get on with it.

It's right - you can't buy a silver one for the MFD3 if you've got climatic controls.
