abs traction control warning lights

Featured Replies

recently bought a octavia 1.9tdi estate, I had to disconnect the battery and when I reconnected the abs and traction control warning lights have come on. Any ideas or is it a trip to the dealers to get it sorted

Rumour has it that keeping the key in position II (i.e. lights on on the dash, but engine not started) for a minute or two before starting the engine can get rid of 'rogue' warning lights. Certainly appeared to work for SWMBO, but knowing how incipient faults are dealt with by the ECU, it could just have been coincidence! Failing that, a friendly member with VAG-COM would be able to sort you out...

There is a vagcom map on here, somewhere.... check the list of forums

These are the lights that came on on my car when a front abs sensor went west .

how much did the sensors set you back, and is it diyable?

Had an ABS light come on after we replaced the air filter (some years ago now) on a MK I, it turned out that we had dislodged a connection between the battery and air filter. The fault code showed a terminal 30 fault.

Thoroughly check all the connections around and between the battery and air filter.

Fixed it. Cheers for that, found out the fuse connector wasn't fully engaged lol, could have done with double checking my work! thanks for the help saved me a visit to the dealers and a few quid no doubt :)
