Hi - Forum newbie with Octavia that's losing power

Featured Replies

Hi everyone from a forum newbie who lives near the East side of Edinburgh - I've joined up today thinking that this could be the place to find the answer to my car trouble.

I have a very nice W plate Octavia 1.6 petrol that has has been losing power despite 2 or is it 3 changes of sensors at my local garages. First time a mate changed a sensor and it seemed better for a few days then when the problem started up again I had it stuck on the computer at a local independent and if memory serves me correctly he said he changed a Map? sensor - the one that regulates air input.

I'm wondering if there is an underlying cause that need sorted or if I am going to end up with yet another change of sensor.

Would taking it to a main dealer be the best option and what are prices like for repairs at Skoda main dealers?

Can anyone help or should I post this on a different section of the forum moderator?

Welcome to Briskoda

The sensor sounds like the MAF sensor (mass air flow), and this does tend to cause power issues because when it's faulty the engine is using the wrong mixture of air and fuel.

If you could copy and paste your post and post it again in the Octavia I forum or the Ask a Tech forum you should get more responses.
