Clunk when shifting into second

When I'm driving around town I have noticed that, occasionally, I hear a loud clunk when I put the car into second gear. This actually happens as I put the car into gear and not when I lift the clutch pedal. The noise only happens as I select second gear and I don't feel any mechanical resistance through the gear stick (which seems to shift really nicely with no syncro issues etc).

Anyone shed any light on this?
