Questions about Fabia II

Featured Replies

I had a new Fabia mini 1.4 V16/63kw petrol engine manual transmission (2009 model).

I would like to ask a couple of questions:

1- Is it a drive by wire system or not?

2- Which will be safer to the engine and gives me a better performance without affecting the engine life time?

Drive on the Max. torque RPM. which is 3800rpm

or Drive on the Max. horse power RPM which is 5000rpm

Please advice.

Thanks.

Yes, the new Fabia is a drive by wire system. Most modern cars are drive by wire nowadays. With regards to performance, I rarely take my 1.4 16v Fabia above 4000 rpm. For environmental reasons and for fuel economy, the manual recommends changing gear between 2500 and 3000 rpm, only using the additional performance briefly if overtaking, for example. Eco-driving techniques suggest changing gear sooner (between 2000 and 2500 rpm). I find you need to be doing at least 2500 rpm to be within the optimum rpm for the next year. Continually driving at such high rpm as you suggest (either figure) will guzzle fuel, be noisy and uncomfortable and will increase wear and tear.

If you want thrash it

Then get a 1.2 12v 70bhp

It loves to be revved!!
