just dropped a bit of a ******* i was been clever and servicing my own car my octavia vrs and was having problems taking the oil filter off when i put a screw driver straight through it and in to the part where the filter screws on does anybody no what this part is called or can it be patched up

please help

Think your on about the oil cooler. Part number is 028117021K. No idea on cost though.

Sorry to hear that.

It does help avoid mistakes if you can quote the year of your car and engine code (AUQ' etc ) for members to help you.

First time I changed my oil, did same method only at bottom of filter, ended up with hot oil all up my arm, not good.

On a visit to Halfords found that they sell a pressed steel socket that fits tightly on the bottom of the filter body flats.

( its about 74mm across flats with a 3/8" square socket hole in the centre).

you must of gone thru the heat exchanger or a coolant pipe ????
