Hi. Can anyone out there help me? My Octavia (02 1.4) has just gone a little crazy. Last week, the indicators stopped working completely one evening but were back working next day. Last night, it was the wipers turn! I switched them on when it started raining. When it stopped, I went to switch them off but couldn’t. I pulled in for a few mins, switched the car off and switched it back on but they kept coming on. :confused: When they eventually stopped, it actually started raining again! Went to switch them on and nothing…. Pulled in for a while, came back out and all was fine again. I’m guessing it is linked to the indicator issue and is a general electronics problem. Can anyone suggest what the issue might be?

Although the faults might be related, indicators stopping working is a really common problem on Octavias. The indicator relay is normally the problem, and is built into the hazard light switch. If that is the problem, and the indicators are switched on but aren't working, then you can sometimes get a few flashes out of them by tapping the hazard light switch.

That wouldn't affect the wipers though. If the faults are related, then I don't know... I don't think there are a lot of electronics in the indicators or wipers though...

Wiring issue in or around the steering column might be the logic place to start looking, although I think rather a pain to get at.
