My new (to me) Felicia

Featured Replies

Ok, so I've picked up a decent(ish) nick 98 (s) felicia estate for what I think is decent money.

Apart from the usual checks (oil in coolant, leaks, structural rust etc etc)..... What do I need to do to make sure it really does have a clean bill of health.

It's got a 1.3mpi unit with 73K on the clock. Looks like it's had a new alternater at some point and has a new v belt. It has also had a new raditator and thermstat housing about a year or two ago. Now correct me if I'm wrong but from inspection these are push rod engines so no cambelt or chain ?

Even though it's a budget motor bought for my dog... I wouldn't mind getting it as mint as possible. I've done all I need/want to do on my A4 for now... so need another mini project to keep the spanner monkey in me happy.

Glad to hear it!

They are a pushrod engine but have a small chain at the bottom left of the engine (when looking straight on at it).

They usually don't need changing but you will probably be able to hear it rattling if its the original one.

Have you checked the suspension as it is prone to wear on these (the lower spring cup thingamy's).

P.s. get a picture up!!

Ah-ha! looks good.

You get that dog guard from Dave?

I'm sure charlie love's his new car!!

Pm'd him... see if we can do a deal.

Charlie loves the motor. The boot's massive for the class of car.

They are pretty generous boots even on the hatch. Mine will easily swallow a couple of medium sized suitcases with loads of other smaller bits too.

Would love an estate especially in the form of a 1.6 L&K but they're pretty hard to come by!

Hope you enjoy it and I'm sure you can come to some arrangment re the dog guard!
