i bought a octavia elegance 55 plate and guess what the rear parking sensors don't work after reading many posts im lead to belive that if you switch on your electrics and put the gear lever into reverse you dhould get some tone of some kind from the each sensor this does not work in my case all i get is the 3 second fault tone when i start the car and reverse it i wish to iliminate witch sensor is faulty

and ideas would be grateful

Probably a scan with vagcom (I'm sure someone close to you with a cable could help) or a trip to the dealer. I do not know of any other way to identify which sensors that fail.
