Grand Prix Legends

Featured Replies

Bought the game when it came out but never played it much due to only having a keyboard at the time.

Installed it on the game PC the other night. Applied a few patches for help with modern hardware. What a cool game. I can see me getting into this one. Just need to find some updated tracks (graphcis wise)

Anyone else on here play or played it?

IIRC, a lot of people say GPL is one of the most realistic F1 sims out there with physics actually working and all that.

BTW, you say "only having a keyboard at the time". Does that mean you have something else? If not, get a proper wheel too - I have a G25, but still haven't got round to using it much (bought it mainly for M3 challenge on PC and GT on the PS3) :o

Yeah got the Gran Turismo 4 wheel, Is it logitech? 2.5 turn lock to lock jobbie for GT4 or normal for any other game. Had it a good few years now. Works good with Live for speed.

Amazing game, but impossible to play without a good wheel. There was an essential patch that allowed you to use some great graphics and sound hacks downloaded from othe rplaces - the V12 Ferrari engine sound is godlike - and you can also manually change the resolution by editing the config file. You'll also need to edit some files to add the new tracks to the rota, but that's explained quite well on the various download/tweak sites.

Be careful when you set the suspension up on your car though - the demo of the game went out with an artificially low ride height, making it almost unplayable. Cars of that era sat very high and had quite soft spring settings. Because you're not dealing with downforce it might seem counterproductive at first, but go with it.

As a bonus try the following site for goodies :)

already downloaded one patch which allowed be to alter the resolution in the game.

I think it might limit you though, unless the patch has been updated since - I wanted 1280x1024 which wasn't available at the time, but I realised the game engine could handle it perfectly well as long as you entered the setting manually in the config. Some of the updated track packs (especially Zandvoort) look fantastic at higher resolutions and the Nurburgring in the wet is a swine :) There's a set of links to track downloads here: Welcome To The GPL Track Database

Make sure you download the new high detail cockpits and car models too - they really do transform the game.

yeah set mine to 1280x1024 in the game so they must of updated it. Yeah I'm after some high details graphics now.

Thanks
