4x4 sump guard

Featured Replies

Just about to pick up a new 4x4 (petrol) can somone tell me if the sump guard covers the whole sump, a quick peep left me with the impression it had been left off- queried over the phone and was told it is not a "complete one" on this only on the Scout, I don't mean the shiney front pannel but a "propper" sump guard if you can call plastic propper, but i need to know what's what:confused: cheers

4x4 has a plastic under tray, the scout has a proper under body protection !!!

thanks for that, looks like I'll have to check out the parts lists:)

was gunna say, its probly pretty easy to fit, hardest part will be getting the part numbers

Yep the 4x4 does have a full plastic undertray under the entire car to give some degree of protection but from memory last time I looked our 4x4 also appears to have a substantial seperate sump guard casting as well under the sump. The only addition I'm aware of on the Scout is the extra aluminium protection to the underside of the bumpers?

The sump guard protection is also listed in the brochure for ours (an 07 model).

My Scout has plastic protection from the back of the engine down both sides of the exhaust tunnel which I guess is to protect the brake lines, etc from snagging.

Under the engine (I mean the whole engine area, not just the sump) is a massive sheet of metal - or sump guard to be technical. Attaches from the front bumper to the back of the engine bay. As you've suggested, get the part number, order it up and I would imagine that it should fit no bother!

thanks for the help chasps, just an update to complicate things, I have been told by the dealer that only the diesels have "full" protection as there is a heat/ cooling problem if it is fitted to a petrol version, I s'pose those petrol driven turbo's do run HOT,--- that probably covers me and the one other guy who's gone petrol:rolleyes:

That'll explain the differing opinions on here then!

I've been wondering this too. Anyone know if it will fit?
