Been looking at upping the performance on a 2008 model Octavia VRS Diesel, (170bhp), though wondering if anyone can give me advice on best way to go? Looked at Revo and Superchips... anyone tried these, are they possible on this car?

Superchips do the Bluefin unit, this uploads a new map to the engine via the diagnostics port above the accelerator pedal, results are usually around the 200-205PS mark. bluefin - Bring your car alive and maximise the performance of your vehicle. PLUG-IN AND GO.

I would avoid the 'tuning boxes' you find on ebay and such like. Your car has a particulate filter and will not like the extra soot an overfuelling tuning box generates.

Other than that you have the usual plethora of tuning companies out there that offer PD170 remaps. There are several Briskoda partners that offer remapping services and they would be more than happy to help you out.

There is also the search tool at the top right of this page, if you search using the term 'Octavia vRS TDI remap' for instance you'll turn up tons of information on the very thing you are looking for.

Please be aware of the potential warranty and insurance implications as well, a remap should be declared to your insurance company as a modification to your car and your manufacturer's warranty could be compromised with a remap installed
