Best Wax for Black VRS?

Featured Replies

Just purchased an 05 VRS, its totally standard and bodywork is in great condition. Few swirl marks just needs some TLC

I am off to halfords to pick up a clay bar, whats the best wax to use on a black car.

I use Dodo Juice on my black magic vRS. Something like purple velvet IIRC

AG deep shine to cover over any minor marks and then coat over with collinite 476 to seal the deep shine in.

lol Victoria Concours wax has offered a lot but i will be going back to collinite 476 purely for its longevity. remember its about the prep work before the wax that will give the best finish.

you want to ask yourself what type of finish you want to the paint i guess first, if you havent already?

As depending on what type of finish would depend on which last step product to use

am thinking sealent or wax here :) highly reflective and cold or deep glossy and warm

HTH

I use Colly 915 which I'm really pleased with

I use poorboys black hole, but first i used meguirs swirl remover just to remove some swirling to the front and rear doors.

AG High Definiton wax ;)

None the wiser there are you

Oh what the hell, Pete's 53 is fantastic also :D

It's all in the prep really, but AG SRP will fill minor swirls very well followed by any good quality wax. many mentioned here are very good. Vics, Dodo, colly, Pete's 53.

This was Pete's 53 on mine

As above its in the prep. Clean tbm, clay, wax and top off with LT or the like.

Done right not much between products. I like harlys for cost £30 for two tubs will last 20-30 applications each good for 3mths plus.

My car and van after about 3/4 months and washed with Hyperwash.

Dodo Juice Blue Velvet- good enough to eat!

It's safe to say that having a black car means your onto a winner already just as Octavia Vrs! has shown with his post..........

RichB86 and Mr Bountyfull have got it spot on as it's all in the prep work so take you time..........

For me I would suggest buying a couple of waxes and layering them if you have the spare funds, get a durable wax such as Collinite and then a 'show off' wax live Vics, Dodo or as has been suggested Pete's 53 or 50/50 which I am big fans of.........

The waxes will be your only problem mate as your can't buy them from Halfords, I use Elite Car Care who offer a couple of kits for the Collinite items that you may fine useful:

Collinite - Elite Car Care

Also have a look here Clean Your Car - car care products UK

Very highly recomended and have a very knowledgable group on the forum for help.
