Uneven tyre wear on lowered Mk 2 vRS Octy

Featured Replies

I have a 58 plate Octavia TDi vRS hatch which, amongst other options, has been lowered by Skoda technical.

The car is less than 6 months old and has covered approx 12k miles.

There has been a slight hum from the tyres since we bought it a few weeks ago and on a trip to Scotland at the weekend I noticed the hum became louder and there was slight vibration through the seats. In addition the steering is a bit twitchy at high motorway speeds.

When I got back yesterday I checked the rear tyres and they are noticably worn on the inside edges. This would appear to be the symptom and I am guessing that the lowering of the suspension is the problem. I suspect that the wheel geometry is incorrect.

Has anybody any experience of this and how do I go about getting the geometry correct if the car is non standard as I assume the camber etc etc is now different from the standard settings ?

I aim to go back to the dealer but forewarned is forearmed

I have done a search and found quite a few helpful threads regards this issue but not quite the same.

it would require taking your car to a place that specialises in four wheel geometry setup, i.e. not just checking your tracking, they should be able to compensate for your car being lowered and iirc should cost you in the region of £150 to 200, but as you say, take it to the dealers, get them to sort it
