Fabia juddering/kangarooing in low gear

Featured Replies

Hi all - recently had problem with "kangarooing" and thought it might be dirty petrol so filled up with the premium unleaded and thought the problem was cured. However, it's back again today, fine when full throttle, only happens when pulling away in first and into second gear. Son thinks I might have a hole in exhaust somewhere that is causing loss of power. But it's an intermittent problem ..... Stationary at lights etc. and the car is wobbling (and me:)) all over the place!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

is it when the car is in gear and you have the clutch depressed? and when you lift the clutch pedal does it jerk?

Thanks for replying - no doesn't seem connected with depressing clutch, just as if it misses/loses power when accelerating after changing gear.

Start with a fault code scan, my money would be on throttle body needing cleaned.

Bad news .... took it to local skoda garage and they put it on computer. Losing compression on one valve, either a sticky valve or valve seating gone. Have to wait until next tuesday for a quote, in the meantime don't know if it is worth putting £1-1.5k on a 53 car. Bodywork knackered, seem to be very unlucky and have been hit several times in car parks. Said cylinder head would have to be replaced as well.....

Wait and see what this scrapeage thing turns out to be first then go from there. That would be my advice as it could work to advantage depending upon the terms and conditions of trading your car in. . .
