Eibach Pro Kit on vRS - anyone have experience?

Featured Replies

I am looking at lowering options (see my BBS CH thread for the reason why!!) and I'm looking for positive or negative experiences of the Eibach kit with standard dampers. I can see that a preferred upgrade route for most is to go for Koni FSDs at the same time.. but if I am going to change the dampers then I would just put coilovers on.

Opinions and pictures would be appreciated

Hi mate, i've got Eibach's on with the standard dampners on my car.

I do think i had towing springs on before so i dont know if the dampners are different in anyway. (Skoda's seem to be on stilts as a standard car)

But so long as I dont hit a huge dip in the road the car behaves well., sometimes the dampners dont quite catch it on the way back up.

Almost feels as if the springs end up forcing there way back up and the dampner doesn't seem to be able to catch it straight away imo.

If you want to come out for a test ride in my car mate ya more than welcome to.

Yeah I wonder if the dampers would be the same as a vRS mate? Anyone know?

NO; vRS has uprated dampers over the rest of the range.

Major benefit of Koni FSDs is that, whilst they naturally give uprated responses when driving briskly, they give a soft comfortable ride in general driving; I have them fitted with OE springs just for this reason. Surely coilovers will give hard ride all the time?

with 19inch alloys i doubt if coilovers would be worthwhile.you wont have that much adjustability with them when your wheels are that big

I bet the eibachs with FSDs will lower enough

Coilovers will give you a hard ride all the time unless on good roads.

My choice would be the eibach/FSD in your situation.

am i right in assuming the FSD's are just a replacement uprated damper with no adjustment where as coilover you can play around with the rebound, compression etc?

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this correctly so do excuse me...but surely fitting 19 inch alloys will necessitate using a tyre with a smaller aspect ratio (tyre height) in order to maintain the same rolling radius. Therefore the degree of adjustment on the coilover won't make any difference whether your using 16 inch alloys with a high profile tyre or a 19 inch alloy with an ultra low profile tyre.

I haven't checked actual sizes but I'm sure there won't be much difference in overall tyre height between a 225/40/18 and a 225/35/19.

FSD's & Eibach's is a terrific combination as has been stated/proven in many a previous thread ................................................ if you're going to lower it then add in the FSD's, you will NOT be dissappointed

As Makefish says if you lower it then you should really add FSD's.

Just the right side of harsh.

Yes but the FSDs cost SO much more money!!

And there's a reason for that.;)

:Overy valid point, I stand corrected, i shall now scold myself for the next 5 minutes:O

coilovers could be worthwhile then:rolleyes: Bear in mind though coilovers will have quite a harsh ride, prob even more so when paired with ultra low profile tyres such as 35.

.... but surely a lot less than coilovers.

.... but surely a lot less than coilovers.

Eibachs are around £145, FSDs around £420 when AP coilovers come in at around £420.

The AP stuff seems to get a good write up and if I'm going to spend another £500+ it seems daft not to get the coilovers. But I don't want to spend that amount so soon after buying my wheels and sourcing a brake upgrade.. but I'm going to the 'ring in a couple of weeks and thought the Eibachs would be adequate.

I know lots of people love the FSDs but people generally change them at the same time as putting the springs on... I'm looking for opinions on the Eibachs on their own

Try searching for it as I put my views up on it previously.
