Smoking & buzzing hazards

Featured Replies

Was sitting with my hazards on, heaters on full heat but not full speed, all vents closed.

Was prob sitting at the side of the road for approx 5 mins, could smell something burning, turns to face the dash and there was smoke coming outa the hazords, i immediately turned the fans to cold, and put the blower on full belt as well as the recirculation button. Left it running for a couple mins then closed all the wents and still let it blow cold air about.

Now its started making a really strange buzzing noise, hard to explain, but happens every couple mins and its bugging me.

Car is a high mileage Octavia SDi, 51 plate.

Anyone know wots went wrong?

Regards

Graeme

Guys need this resolved, anyone had this problem before

It could be a dodgy indicator stalk causing the relay in the hazard switch to click quickly. I have never come across the smoke before,it is feasible that the relay got hot, does it smell burnt? Take the hazard switch out and look at it and its wiring.

It started smoking before i could read this reply, its now totaly fecked and i have NO indicators wot so ever now!

This happened yesterday, it smells burnt, wires looked fine.

Ive unplugged this, should i replace it with a new one?

The hazard switch is the indicator relay I think.. never had an Octavia 1 but I know that's the case in Mk4 Golfs and several other VAG cars.

Just replace the hazard switch and you should be good to go
