Sunroof

Featured Replies

Has anyone had an aftermarket sunroof fitted to there Fabia , I have been looking at Webesto roofs for my vrs

I had a Webasto folding roof fitted to a car (not Fabia) some years ago. The increase in noise was horrendous; it was also prone to leaks. Sunroofs have always been a particularly British thing for some odd reason and I think they're slowly dying out with the increase in air-con fitted cars. It's a personal opinion but I wouldn't waste your money. I presume the roof you are thinking of is a steel sliding version but I certainly wouldn't want the roof hacking about. Is a sunroof even available for the Fabia as a factory option - if not, why not?

Yes, there is a factory-fitted sunroof for the Fabia.

I've got one on my vRS a) to lighten up the drab interior and B) to provide added air extraction so the aircon works better (no electric rear windows nowadays on Fabias.

Well worth the money.

Thanks for your replies, I found them helpful and interesting. I have actually decided not to go ahead with the sunroof as I didnt really fancy having the roof ripped off.

Air Extraction??? The whole purpose of air-con is to keep all your windows closed - so don't tell me you've got your sunroof open???

Please elaborate..

Regards,

Like most modern cars, the Furby's ventilation system is much better at getting air into the cabin than letting it out.

Flow through the aircon is vastly improved if you let the stale air out.

On my previous Furby, I had electric rear windows and could drop one of them a little. On the vRS, tilting the sunroof does the same job.

You do know about the vents in the rear of the car don't you..

Regards,

Yes, and they are much more effective with the rear seats down. Air also escapes above the rear wheel arch (it gets dirty in winter). But it's still not enough to match the rate at which air enters the car.

Try demisting the windscreen using the aircon - with a rear window open, the screen clears in a couple of seconds. Wind the windows up and it takes forever.

the term 'forever' - hmm, probably varies from skoda to skoda and depends on the weather, but I don't have that much of a problem with it on mine..

Regards,
