Superb 1.8T fuel consumption

Featured Replies

my 1.8T is giving around 360 miles until the light comes on (which equates to around 55 litres) and that's not going anywhere near motorways.

It's a big car but once chipped it can take off pretty hard and pulls really well although since the remap I now have a very slight turbo lag which I didn't have before and the flat spot at 3500rpm is more pronounced on light throttle.

Been told that a remap actually improves fual economy.

Hows the overall improvements after the remap as i was considering it at one point however wasnt convinced it was worth while considering there is no traction control. does the petrol version actual benefit?

i average around the 280 to 300 to a full tank down to 250 if i drive hard but my car has everything done to it and running 230+ bhp so i guess thats why lol

as for someone saying they can get 500+ miles from a tank you are having a laugh mate not a hope in hell even on a standard 1.8t :o;)

Mate, I do it every time I fill up. I drive sensibly, and a lot of it is motorways. This is a Superb tank, 60 litres I think?

Motorway driving 500 to the 62ltr is 100% possible as thats how i am getting on at the moment. Local driving will drag this down to 300-320.

Forget the 1.8 , get the v6 2.8 ,torque galore ,very fast if needed , wolf in sheeps i would say , 0-60 in 7.4 and mid range is phenominal , mpg is crap but who cares lol , didnt buy it for that if i wanted 50 mpg would have got a polo , when the missus is on board i get well over 30 so its not all bad , do the right thing:thumbup:

was gonna go for it at one point however the fuel economy worried me as well as the amount of torque going through the front will drive;.

This thread makes me a very happy octy TDI owner. I get 60 - 70 MPG and do mainly A and B road driving. Not many motorways in East Anglia!

Dont worry about the front wheels torqueing out on the 2.8 petrol the electronics keep in check and tyre wear isnt any worse than any other front driver , acceleration is fantastic, overtaking is safe and quick and i love the car , superb by name and superb by nature , so much better than the octavia in fit/finish/equipment/room/looks/handling/everything except the boot-hatchback versitility, there is more to life than mpg believe me , anyway if i behave i get 30-35 but who wants to be a bore? happy days

its not really a sporty car though. must admit for the sport element, id always go for a octy vrs (remapped of course:rofl:) Superb just feels more of a cruising car. This isnt taking anything away from it though...
