Help.Power Loss

Featured Replies

power loss at 3000 rpm on a 2002 octavia1.9 tdi code showing 17965.the turbo has only done 26k and is a taxis, had this problem10 mths ago when a number of sensors were replaced along with the turbo which was brand new at the time.

Altogether now...

Sticky Turbo...

If it is this you can get the turbo cleaned rather than being bent over by Skoda for a new turbo.

Here is the section on the Rosstech site about that code. Although this does also say it could be the N75 valve.

is it the 110bhp tdi? What sort of driving do you do - mainly around town? I take it the car has done 26k in 10 months from your post.

Thanks for reply.Yes the car is the 110 bhp tdi model,i had the new turbo fitted by a local vw specialist 10 mths ago and since then i,ve done 26k around town. The turbo was purchased brand new from eurocar parts and still under warranty so hopeing if the turbo is fautlty their will exchange it.Had aload of problems with turbo on this car.it's cost a fortune. Thanks for help.

trundling around town and/or driving like a granny leads to the turbos getting gunged up and the vanes jamming on the VNT mechanism which leads to the overboost code you got and the car going into limp mode (speaking from bitter experience). Fortunately liberal application of lead boots can help avoid it happening again.

Is this the same problem you had before which lead to the turbo being changed, if so I wonder how much of a specialist the garage actually is.

Try searching in the Octavia I forum there quite a few threads about this problem. If there's no joy with the warrenty you should look at getting the turbo stripped down and cleaned.
