Vrs Loose Spark Plug

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anybody had had any dramas with plugs coming loose on a MK1 Octy Vrs??? had one of mine pop the other day and thought it had took the threads outta the head with it. Lucky for me i yhink ihad worked loose and seems to be ok with a new set of NGK's. All the other 3 were quiet loose I thought to. Any feedback would be interesting.:)

Had this happen on mine due to not using a torque wrench and underestimating how tight is tight enough.

I greased the threads with copper grease and used a torque wrench to torque them correctly and they have not come loose since.

Never used copper grease on plugs (don't fancy that myself incase any nicely congealed bits drop into the cylinder on removal) but yes they need to be torqued correctly and checked regularly. I keep forgetting this after having diesels!!

I had one come loose on my 1.6. Made a bit of a racket until tightened up, but did no damage.
