I think I want som Fun!

Featured Replies

I've admired the 'Fun's' for a while now and always liked them and I have just realised that I actually really want one!

What sort of price should I expect to pay for a decent one?

Any comments/advice from current Fun owners?

Also how about insurance as I'm struggling to find the Fun listed with insurance companies!

Thanks

Phil

It's a commercial vehicle technically, so that would be why :)

Ahhhh... I see!

So what is it classed as (like on the V5)?

Would I need like commercial van insurance or something?

Thanks

Phil

Still PLG afaik, since it is "light goods"?

Possibly?

Speak to Ross, he had/has one :)

Just got some quotes under van insurance and their systems found it straight away.

Will cost almost exactly the same to insure as my current felly.

There's only two on e-bay at the moment...

Do it then :D

Don't say things like that... you people are supposed to be the voice of reason aren't you!?

Was thinking it over in more depth in the shower and would definately love one and would quite easily get along with only having 2 'occasional' seats in the rear etc but not sure its the right time to be buying a new car as still have Austrailia credit card debt hanging over us at the moment! lol

But think I have my heart set on one in the long run....

When in my 5000+ posts have I ever been a voice of reason!?

To be honest, I'd love a Fun too... but then SWMBO will say "oh you never settle on what car you want!". It's true, me and Autotrader is like a kid in a sweet shop, so much choice and I want to try them all!

There's a couple on autotrader :) i'd aim to get one with the truckman top.

I think I remember trying the insurance quotes a while ago and on evaninsurance.co.uk the felicia pickup cost the same to insure as the fun.

Do

Andy..... and when have you been the voice of reason?????

I must admit , I do love these cars , love them to bits , but the 1.8T engine in that was superb!!!

Whats was that sarah... you want me to get one with a 1.8t in!? Hehe no that would ne 'Fun'!

Will head over and have a ganders on autotrader. One of them on ebay is only over in Pickering so not far from me...

Is the truckman top easily removed/put on?

Phil

Edit:

There is one on Autotrader going fairly cheap. £1295 and needs a new clutch soon they say.

Oh buggar... I'm really temptednow!... It's all your fault guys for fuelling my desires rather than trying to talk me out of it!

Hi Phil

I must admit , I have never tried to remove one

Just love the thought of having one , and having the back open!!!

In nice weather this would be better than a soft top!!!!

Mmm , here`s a thought!!!!

How about a PD 130 engine in it , and then mapped to approx 170bhp ish......

Wow , now that would give great fuel economy too

Come on , come on...

It has to be done , is that something that our Lummox can do?

Where is Ross?

Hehe... That's my kind of thinking... though ages ago when my engine when of grabbing and engine and drivetrain from a Fabia vRS and sticking it in... would love to do that if I get a garage soon and a car as a run around.

You're not helping you know!

And yes would be great with the back open... if and when we get decent weather! lol

Saw a bumper for a fun on ebay with some damage... perhaps a repair and re-spray in indigo blue and stick it on my car! hehe

Don't say things like that... you people are supposed to be the voice of reason aren't you!?

not when it comes to fun's

Or a VR6????

Sarah

Well Sarah, you definitely work in the right place for doing a Fun PD130 or 1.8T. I've sort of gone off the VR6 cos you can get the same power and 50kg less on the nose from a 1.8T motor.

Think that particular VR6 model is out of my price range sarah!:

Autotrader - Skoda Felicia Hatchback 5-Dr 2800 cc 2.8 VR6 200 BHP

Might give the guy with the one in Pickering a text and see about having a look at it... oh dear this is the start of the slippery slope!

Wish I had the time and money for a PD130 conversion!

Is the truckman top easily removed/put on?

I believe they go on and come off - hopefully someone with one can explain how easily it comes off.

They are pretty easy to remove, four clips and they lift off.

Buy a Fun, they are great toy. Im quite lucky as i have got a Fabia VRS, and my dad has got a Fun pickup, so in the summer we can swap cars:D Very nice in the sun, riding around with the top off and the rear seats out.:)

Mine will be for sale in a few weeks time, comes with the truckman top, all the bumpers are good, got one or two spots of rust coming and the engine is a bit smokey. But if you are planning on a transplant it would be ideal, Its never let me down in 5 years, and will be sad to see it go, bit i have had my FUN and have to grow up (yeh right) now that im aproaching 40

i think the current offerings of fun's are too expensive tbh, they seem to want silly money for them

Yes there are a couple on autotrader wanting 3k for them!!

Then there are a couple that need a couple of things sorting like clutch for 1.3k.

Suppose it's all down to how much work I want to put in or whether I want a minter from the off!

What do we think of this one:

1999 SKODA FELICIA FUN YELLOW on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-May-09 20:11:28 BST)

Relatively low miles with some minor scrapes and scratches apparantly and it looks as though some of the yellow is wearing off the steering wheel and gearstick.

And rigsby... depends how much you wanting for her?! ;)

But you really shouldn't be offering to sell with a dodgy engine and words like "engine" and "transplant" thrown in!

If I found one cheap enough I'd have one!
