K&N Filters

Featured Replies

I think most of us went for the Green panel filter rather than the K+N, there is a group buy on them from JBS iirc.

I found K+N usually quite heavily oiled and this can lead to MAF sensor problems, but its not allways the case.

I used K+N but have had a maf failure so now trying the green cotton as they are less oiled.

Thanks for the info  , looks like i will save my money and try and get one of those green ones.

Next question has to be where can i get one of those green ones???

And while i am asking, if it does what happens when the maf fails, does it have to go back to the dealer and is it expensive?????

If you car has warranty and the MAF fails they should replace under warranty (may not if you have a non standard air filter in the box though).

If you have to pay for it new MAF sensors are around

If you goto eurocarparts in Leeds, do mail order, they can supply new mafs for less than

Don't want to keep going on about these K&N filters, but after your kind comments i had a look at the K&N website, below is piece taken of there own website.

7. Will a K&N filter cause my vehicle

It is true that MAF sensors fail anyhow, and a large percentage of dealers will blame a perfomance filter if fitted, this is not suprising. So it is a bit unfair to solely blame K+N filters for damaging MAF sensors. But what I have seen are filters that have been cleaned and re oiled excessivley to the point that the filter drips oil, but thats hardly K+N's fault.

Go with a K+N if you like, im sure they are a quality product, they have years of knowledge behind them.

Re-oiling...

IIRC, the trick is to oil the filter, stand it on some kitchen roll and blow it with a hair-dryer to get rid of the excess oil ;)

As Ross says, if it's dripping with oil you're asking for it.

Green seems ok, no oil noticable when you touch it, and i believe Pipercross do an oil-free filter. Not sure how good it is though :)

Ok without sounding too unknowlegable

How is it you cannot fit a Induction kit to the fabia VRS like the BMC-CDA or something, is it because its a diesel

You "can" fit one, but there's no benefit as far as I know, but more risks of component failure.

I've got the Green filter as well AND had a maf failure which I can't pin down to that - It just went. ;) I've cleaned the filter recently and its still fine at the moment. :D

Pretty sure you can.... I would think the only restriction is the amount of space under the bonnet......
