Fitting a bluetooth mic

Recommended Posts

Howdy

Just having bought an Octavia, I wanted to fit a car stereo with bluetooth in, as I do a lot of driving for work and I want to link my blackberry up (and be all executive n ****).

I've got the stereo in (after-market Mutant stereo) but instead of a built in mic, it has a wired mic to be fed through to wherever. I can sort the trunking out along the side of the window (as I want the mic to be by my head, to the right by the corner of the sun visor.

As said, I know how to remove the trunking along the window, but I can't seem to figure out how to remove the dash to feed the wire through to the trunking. Can anyone help, offer assistance or at least tell me where the fixing screws are?

Any help would be gratefully received

Can you not drop the mic wire behind the headunit and then take the wire under the dash (just above the pedals). Then remove the a-pillar trim and tape it up the side, you can either leave it in the top right corner of the screen or tuck into the headlining and perhaps have it near the interior light.

I was gonna try this, but I didn't know of the efficiency. I'll give it a blast at dinner time to try. It will probably work out just great. I like to over complicate a lot of things!!!

My parrot's mic was run in this way and worked out fine for me although i took the wire round the passenger side and along top of windscreen.

This was down to having the glovebox off to fit stereo and parrot

My one goes from the head unit, under the steering wheel (there is a handy plastic tray where you can lay the cable then through the side of the fuse box and up to the A pillar trim.

No taking the dash apart and still a very tidy instal :)

I've fitted it now. Behind stereo, to the right. Taped into the crease of the plastic work under the steering wheel (out of view as well). Fed into plastic trunking around door edge for approx 60cm now pokes out by top of window. Mic bigger than would've liked, but looks like an alarm sensor in addition to other security so I'm very pleased
