Dealership communication (or lack of it)

Featured Replies

How do you find your dealers are regarding communication - do they ring back if promised, do they keep you informed of any progress without you having to chase them? Or is it the complete opposite?

The dealer I use is Rainworth Skoda. Couple of time i've emailed them (Dean Sporton) and he has got back to me in minutes. They have my vote so far.

Yes - Henry's (North [formerly known as Queensborough Motors]) in Glasgow. Check Review Centre for more details.

Of the dealers I've used I have to say that on the whole most don't bother to get back to you. Be that for parts enquiries, problems, progress or even getting prices for work, even if they specifically say they will phone you back.

There is possibly one exception to the rule who I'd say do get back to me 95% of the time, which isn't bad bearing in mind they are often very busy.

I think a lot of it is where the message is lost in the first layer of secretary level communications, where the person doing the message taking isn't secretary trained and doesn't give a stuff enough to make sure the messages do get to the right person.

Further to the above, I've had it happen that I called when both of Henry's service receptionists were busy, the call was taken by one of the sales team, and my car was correctly booked in for service (service dept were expecting me and knew what work was booked when I arrived, withoout a follow-up call by either me or the dealership).

a good example was last week when after my lights were adjusted they balls it up, drove 20 miles to them after waiting a couple of hours for my return call and then listened to their excuses when i knew who took the call (male and not the female they tried to blame), but once there they had to deal with me.

I honestly think that this thread will summarise as "the good dealers are very good, and the bad ones couldn't organise a drinks party in a pub"!

The good dealers are very good, it's just a shame the majority of the dealer network are not good dealers and those who are not good are bleeding awful would perhaps be my take on it.
