just a hello and a cry for help

Featured Replies

Hello to everyone, joined ages ago and just used the site to search around for info every now and again, I tried posting in ask a tech and it seems I am not allowed. My octavia vrs mk1 has just became a nightmare in the last couple of weeks, and so far changed is the MAF, both lambdas, cam position sensor, crank sensor and coolant temp sensor. though I am about to change the lambda again as the new one ended up worse than the original, no other fault codes other than the lambda. I only have the shareware version of vagcom so cant do a full scan. the main problem I am having is that the revs seem to drop very fast nearly to stall whenever i push the clutch or even at idle. If i rev the engine the needle drops faster than normal dips to around 500rpm then back, and also when driving i seem to get like a flat spot at varying rpms as if I have hit a limiter and then back to normal. any Ideas? HELP ME PLEASE

Hi Miterick, unfortunately ask a tech is for Freedom members (site doners) only. However the Octy 1 board is a lively part of the forum and the members know their stuff so why not post your query there?

Have you checked the small hoses under the inlet manifold for splits also the "y" shaped pipe on the cylinder head?

tried looking and squeezing all the hoses I could find with blind hope but no joy with that one. would that cause the symptoms I am getting then?

thanks for the hint matt, just posted there too.

welcome along

Heard from my friend that one way of checking if the engine is sucking air from some small crack some where in the air intake system u can spray with start gas in this area and it should change revs imidiatly. If u looking for a faulty ignition system spray a film of water over the engine and u should see sparks... Dont know if it helps u but maybe worth trying :) Dont know how safe it is to spray start gas over engine...
