I think you need to do a few miles before the car can calculate when the next service is due and then show the information in the display.

It's on variable, it's just been serviced so as chris says it needs to do a few miles before that display will say anytihng meaningful.

Ah well that puts a different light on things. You could do with plugging VCDS into and checking the days since service value.
