Cambelt Change - 1.9TDI 52 Plate Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I've searched the forum, but get conflicting results.

Can anyone tell me what mileage a 52 plate Fabia Elegance 1.9 TDI should have a cambelt change at.

Thanks,

Adam

... and if it's worth having the water pump done at the same time.

Ta.

There is some confusion isn't there - think the official line has changed once or twice - every 4 years or 40k miles (whichever comes soonest) is sensible. Worthwhile getting the water pump done too (maybe for one with brass impellars) and the relevant bolts.

60K / 4 years - whichever is the soonest

Have been quoted:

£271.46 for the timing kit fitted

£38 for water pump

£10 for coolant

Making a total of £319.46 fitted at a main dealer.

They've offered me cruise control for £149 aswell.

Do they sound like reasonable quotes?

Not bad really for a main dealer. I paid £274 for Belt, tensioner, roller and water pump (genuine VAG parts) and coolant at Impossible.

Those costs sound reasonable for a main dealer! :)

4yrs/60k is the most recent recommendation I think.
