Need info about 1.8T 20v swap for felicia

Featured Replies

Hi, i hav a 97 feli hatch made 172000 km fed up with the 1.3 carb engine :rotz: and its poor performance. anyone knows any useful info for a 1.8v 20v swap or parts needed for this (gearbox, brakes, wiring....etc ) and is this swap reliable for everyday use or i ll be wasting my weekends at garage fixing the car  ????

There's no reason why it shouldn't be reliable if done right, but if you want an idea of the work involved, have a dig on this forum for TeflonTom's 2.0l Felly project.

you'll need to make a custom engine mount for the cam belt end of the engine, and you'll need the gear box mounting plate from a 1.6 or 1.9 felicia.

there will be other small problems fitting everything in the engine bay, but thats part of the fun!!!!!!

i would also recommend 1.9 front suspension and the bigger anti roll bar. and reinforcing the front wish bones would help

I have a wiring loom for sale in the Items For Sale area, not sure if you are interested?

i reckon a 20v lump would tear a skoda gearbox to shreads, you'd be better off using a complete engine and gearbox and doing it with custom mounts and custom driveshafts, fwiw, for the amount of balls-ache it will cause you you'd be better off just buying a golf or an audi a3 or something with the engine already in and just drive around in that

I can see all of that, and I'm sure you'd agree your 2.0l conversion gives a fair idea of the problems.

Tom are you feeling ok?????????

think about it practically for a few moments ed, i saw t plate audi a3 1.8t for £1500 the other day... you'd be lucky to even find a decent engine and gearbox from a breaker for that money

True, but thats the easy way out...

Nobody who wants to put a 1.8T in a Skoda ever wants to do things easy LOL

Has to be slightly mad....

we need more peple like this!!

the only viable option is to do it the way we are with the corrado project, by all the cars we need bits off, then ebay every think we don't need

so far we have bought.

R32 golf
