Black Grille surround

Featured Replies

iam definately going to give it a go over the weekend.

thanks for that

look awesome. i keep planning to do that to mine but never got round to it. you have convinced me to do it this weekend.

Same here. :)

Got the surround out and badge off tonight, rub down and prime it tomorrow, paint it ?

Painting it matt black first to see what it looks like as not sure about a lacqured finish.

Take your time with the clips, even being careful i still managed to break one

John

as yours is already out, how many clips and where about are they? do you prise it out from the top or from the bottom? where do you start?

ive got a black car and i was going to colour code it black magic. as your going matt black, stick some pics up when its done.

I started with the badge part - 3 clips around that part and IIRC about another 8 all round?

There are 4 along the bottom, 4 along the top but also 3 around the back of the badge.

I started with the 3 around the badge, then the top 2 on the right, then top 2 on the left. Then the 4 across the botton starting at one end.

Badge removal, cut off melted plastic tabs then used a hairdrier to warm the back of the surround under the badge then carefully prised off the badge.

Hope this helps

John

used satin black spray, big tin was less than £3 from local car parts shop

Don't fancy putting original badge back on, would like something different.

Just picked the grill up from the paint bay, the guys have done a cracking job.

A couple of low quality pics of it on the car.:D

Just need a new badge now.

i think it looks much better in the matt black so i think i will go with that. its going to be much easier than thrying to get it colour matched to the black magic.

thanks for the pics and all your help chaps.

Colour matching Black magic was dead easy. I did my grille yonks ago and managed to get it lovely and glossy. It looks very o.e
