New Octavia vRS Diesel Owner

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just wanted to say thank you for the info that I have checked out prior to becoming an owner of the above 08 reg in Black Magic with less than 4,000 on the clock.

Always liked Skoda Octavias and have moved to this to cover the miles for my job but return better mpg and more refinement than my previous steed - an MG ZS180.

I am very impressed by the handling and ride on the 18" alloys and glad that I have got the auto dimming rear view, halogens and cruise - all proving to be very useful. It's nicer to have a quieter ride than my MG with a sports exhaust but still have awesome overtaking ability (maybe at the loss of some flexibility with a petrol with 177lb ft of torque and increased rev range though).

Anyhow - I am going to trawl through and check some tyre pressure recommendations for the 225/40 R18 tyres Continental Sports Contact2 - they seem a bit soft on the recommended 2.0bar on the front? Any advice / experience welcome.

welcome

Hello and welcome to Briskoda :wavey:

Welcome :)

Hello mate and welcome to briskoda. I'm currently running 36psi on the front and 34psi on the rears of my vRS TDi. I used to run the reccomended 2.0 bar but found traction in second gear rubbish and overall wooly handling. Might be worth having a play around with the pressures and see which suits you best. (my vRS is running Bridgestone Potenza's on 18")

Cheers for that - I am now running 35psi front and 33psi rear and the handling has been transformed... going to have to give the car a clean and then get some photo's while it stays that way...
