Camera Rucksack / backpack advice

Featured Replies

Folks

I want to buy (if it's possible) a Camera Rucksack that can accomodate my A350, 70/210 Minolta Beercan lense and a couple of other smaller lenses as well as being able to hold my 15.4" macbook and charger.

I can see the LowePro stuff everywhere for the camera, but wondered if something existed that can take the camera with compartments for lenses and hold a laptop at the same time.

I am spending a lot of time away with work and want to take the camera but some of the airlines throw a wobbly when I try to get through with a camera case and a laptop bag "oooh that's 2 items sir" etc etc. I ahve had stuff knicked from hold baggage so wanted a solution that can do it all and get slung on my back :)

Thanks in advance for any help

Lowepro Computrek or Compurover range is what you want. I've got the Computrekker AW, and it's just the job. Holds my 400D, 3 lenses, flashgun etc, and my Dell 630 or MSI Wind, with PSU.

I've got a more normal Lowepro bag for my A350 - can't remember the model but it's one that has the opening towards your back where it's secure - and it's very nice quality and well thought out so their kit gets a thumbs up from me.

I have a Crumpler Camera bag which also has a compartment for a Laptop. I will try and find a link.

I have the LowePro Vertex 100 AW, but you'd probably need the 200 for a 15" Macbook : Lowepro Vertex 200 AW Camera Backpack Review

The 100 is great for me with my 50D, flash and a few lenses. I think the 200 is the largest you can go as 'hand luggage' on a plane? Don't quote me on that though.

I Have a crumpler - 17" laptop compartment, space in top for books & things & fully padded camera compartment in bottom. Been all over the world - no probs getting it on as hand luggage. Bonus is it looks like a normal back pack so less invitation for muggers etc.

7dayshop have the Kata R101 for under £80. Is a good price for a good rucksack. I am looking for something suitable for the A900 with vertical grip at the moment. Needs to be 6" deep at minimum, preferably 7" deep.

I went for a Kata in the end, Kata DR-467 DPS Backpack, which Amazon still have on offer at £46.71 inc VAT (odd price mind)

It fit's all my macbook gear in, the kit lens, 18/55 sigma, 70-210 beercan and the body along with spare battery mem card etc.
