Service intervals on Vrs

Featured Replies

I have just noticed that my Vrs is telling me I need a service done in 1000 miles.

What is the service intervals on a Vrs as it was service around 6000/5 months ago?? Also what should I need done, the car has around 54000 on the clock.

Cheers

Change it to fixed intervals and service at every 10k, cant really go wrong at that.

is it meant to tell you when you turn the ignition on when its due a service? i did the thing when u push the trip reset button and turn ignition on, but it just says service. Ive heard some ppls cars tell them on the mileage screen how many miles to go till service? bit confused, can anyone shed any light on the situation? much thanks, i have an ocy vrs on a 54 plate, 52k on clock. last service according to history was at 30 somit. thanks.

How do you change it to fixed interval??

My mileage screen just says service, doesn't say how many miles.

Stevie, as above fixed service intervals are every 10_000 miles or 12 months; unless you do a significantly higher annual mileage, there's little if anything to be gained from using variable service. I can't understand how you could get a warning on the figures you quote, since if the indicator wasn't reset at all it would have signaled "service" every time you switched on for the last 5 months, and that's way too low for variable to cut in anyway.

REH17, the countdown cuts in when you have about 1_000 miles or 1 month to go to the next schedule service. As in para (1), if it's just reading service then the computer thinks a service is due. If you'v done somewhere between 15 and 23 k miles, the car thinks it's on variable, which is more complex and needs setting up properly with a diagnostics computer, not the trip computer.

Sorry for just jumping in but have got similiar dilemma with my mk 1 vrs its been on variable as it was company car. last serviced 49k now on 61k I now do little anual miles so guess would pay me to go to fixed also the oil is looking little grubby. Had no service warning. Whats involved with going back to fixed would it need to go main dealer or can independent cope with comp settings?

Cheers

Prewy, change oil, do other work for an inspection (unless next service is a 40_000 anyway), and reset the service schedule using the stalk. Job jobbed, it's that easy.

What other work s involved for inspection? Or is the clue in the title. Also will it say in handbook how to reset using stalk or am I being really stupido now!!
