RS updated engine

Featured Replies

With the advent of the Cupra R with 210 hp and the A4s to use a 190 bhp variant from early 2003, both using a second intercooler and ECU mods, how about lobbying Skoda for the uprated engine in the RS?

As Skoda invests in the WRC and did pretty well, nearly came third in the manufacturers championship, isn't it about time they brought out an updated RS in 2003? I don't see Seat or Audi come to that anywhere in motorsport right now.

If we can get Briskoda members behind this I am sure Skoda UK would pass the message onto Czech even if they do nothing else.

What does anyone suggest?

Chris,

I agree. However I also suspect it will not happen and here's why:

Audi: top echlon of VAG group, top price, best toys etc.

Seat: Sporting arm, these will be the fastest and best looking (maybe) of the range.

Skoda: Dare I say it all the above but lower prices.

Volkswagon: All over, I reckon they could release carbon copies of the mk1 and still get 20k for it.

So to maintain market share they will tap Seat for power and thus 17k area, Keep Skoda just below for the 14k market, Audi out at 20k+ and maybe I suspect a quick Seat or Skoda for the 12k area.

That said we all know the parts fit and TBH th new audi at 190BHP 245lbs ft T. is nice, but not that special considering that the current 1.8T's surpass that from a 300+ mod. Thats without modifiying the turbo...part number anybody?

Just my 2p's worth.

I'd like to see Skoda keep the quiet understated performance, as I really would not like to drive flash i.e. the out and out obvious performance car all the time, you know what I mean I hope.

the reason that I'v understood is that the "new" 1.8T has the direct injection, FSI.. which old 1.8T doesnt have.. what I understand it's just Audi that gets the new FSI turbo engines.
