Anyone with VAG COM near Sheffield, UK? Issue with brake system :-(

Featured Replies

I bought my Octavia a week ago and now I'm experiencing few issues with it.

It's 2004 Skoda Octavia II 1.9TDI Elegance hatchback.

The car came with full service history from Skoda dealer. It drives superbly.

There is an issue with the brakes though.

When I push the brake pedal (medium to high pressure) while driving, few lights come up on the dashboard: exclamation mark, abs and power assisted steering light and 3 beeps thereafter.

The lights come off when I release the brake pedal.

Any ideas what it might be?

Anyone from around Sheffield with a VAG COM so I can read the fault codes?

Any help appreciated.

I'm in Mansfield if that helps.

I'm in Sheffield. I'm happy to scan it, but given the safety critical nature of the issue I won't clear the codes or attempt to interpret them.

I don't want them to be cleared, I need to find out what the problem is so I can take further steps to get it fixed.

Can you please PM me your location and phone no if possible.

Thanks in advance.

150HP&counting - would be happy to help but I've only got a CAN vagcom lead, not HEXCAN, hence I can only do A5 platform cars. Yes, I'm a cheapskate :)

I've noticed that the same lights come up when I push the areas near the light switch on the dashboard. It looks to me like a short circuit or some other issue with electrics.

Today I have had the fault codes read with VAG COM:

Can anyone interpret them for me?

Can I fix the issues myself or is it necessary to visit a car electrician?

Might be worth making sure the instument cluster plugs are seated correctly.

Where can I find instrument cluster plugs?

  • 2 weeks later...

Plugged into the back of the instrument cluster :)

Plugged into the back of the instrument cluster :)

Any ideas how to get there without breaking anything?
