I've got one at last!!!

Featured Replies

At bloody last I've managed to get myself a lovely silver Octavia vRS!

To say I'm happy is an understatment, it's just what I wanted, silver, FSSH, good condition and standard!

Now I've got it, it's time to think about the mods!

I've put in tuning guide, modification guide and other things into the search bar but I can't find a guide on the tried and tested mods that I should do, can anyone help?

One other thing, I'm thinking about getting the standard alloys re furbed in black and having the roof done black, can anyone point me in the direction of cars with either of these mods? I think it might look good if it's lowered, I really don't want coilovers though...

So many questions!

HELP!

Thankyou, Tom :D

lol

nice one mate, sure youll love her.

I would get the rims gone graphite mate as its not quite blck but still ace cant point you to a pic tho.

First thing id do is a rear ARB!

then do the breaks, keep std jus better discs n pads or if goin Big Turbo then get bigger breaks, comp break 6 pots for £1100 in green lol. OCTAVIA VRS is the man to chat to bout these.

Cheers mate, I've been reading about this rear ARB, does it really make that much difference?

The calipers need re painting... I know the Hammerite is discontinued, I wonder what e-bay will turn up!

Tom

lol the RARB mate... all I can say is OMG I put it on and just driving out to the main road was totally diff. The car stays so flat and instead of wollowing round corners you can feel the rear end come round, really grippy even in slow corners.

youll see what I mean when you do it lol.

Brilliant, I'll put that on the list.

So far I've decided on a green panel filter, fp007, forge intake pipe and a revo stage one.

Also uprated discs and pads and now a rear ARB. Don't really want to lower it to be honest, I like my cars comfy!

Thanks again mate

Congrats on your purchase. Another vote for the RARB, they really DO make a vast difference. Hammerite discontinued?...I bought a can of green Smoothrite a few months ago in a motor factors, although I`ve heard it can be difficult to get hold of, and it really is a very good match for the OE paint, painted mine a few weeks ago.

can I jus ask how come your paint is commin off?

mine is fine after 62K and 4 years. take it your cars are all a lot older than mine?

billy

sorry for the hijak

Mines done 64k and is a 7 years old, so probably the time more than the miles I guess?

Any pointers where to get a quality rear ARB?

Welcome to the vRS club !!

(Balance Motorsport: 22mm Whiteline) This was one of my first mods and as has been said totally changed the handling of the car.

For £20 can i suggest replace the existing dogbone bush with a Powerflex (yellow colour) polyurethane one, (20 mins approx to do it).

Will cause slight increase in cabin vibration for first 500 miles till bedded in, this removes wheel hop when launching, the wheels just spin :).

Also, i found the gear change seemed more posititve

Peter

Brilliant, thanks for that tip!

Is this the correct Hammerite?

BRAND NEW HAMMERITE SMOOTH FINISH GREEN PAINT 250ML on eBay, also, Paint Varnish, DIY Materials, Home Garden (end time 24-May-09 23:22:57 BST)

And how much will I need?

Many thanks!!!

Yup, that`s the stuff, I paid about half that though, although looking online I can`t find any cheaper...maybe worth looking in your local motor factors? Same size tin I got, and it is about half empty(half full?) after two good coats on all calipers, so 250ml will be well enough:)
