Rear suspension Bush - DIY Job?

Featured Replies

Anyone successfully changed one of these on a Felicia?

Looking in a relatives Haynes manual for a VW Polo (which seems to have a similar rear end), it not only says you need a hydraulic press, but goes on to warn you against knocking it out with a hammer for fear of enlarging the hole in the trailing arm.

Thanks

Firstly you need to be looking at the Felicia haynes as the Felicia has different suspension to a VW Polo (unless it's a pickup model apparently). AFAIK the only bits on a Felicia from a VW polo are steering wheel, switches, rear drum brakes, and the engine itself. They are largely based on the Favorit.

If you mean the bottom one on the shock absorber itself, i.e. in the pic below I would just replace the shock absorbers. If the shock's that old for the bottom bush to be knackered the shock probably isn't far behind anyway, and with the time and hassle it might take... Keep an eye out on Ebay as pairs often turn up cheap. Favorit ones are the same. This is the cheapest a pair is on ebay at the moment unfortunately A Pair Of Rear Shocks | Skoda Felicia / Favorit on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-Jun-09 16:54:13 BST)

Yes, I'm pretty sure its the main axle beam bush that's worn, as the shocker bush looks fine.

I'm getting the same sort of light double knock from the LH rear that you tend to get from the front susp. when a wishbone ball joint is on its way out

you can do it using a piece of M12 stud and some nuts using massive sockets as spacers
