What can be done remap wise to a 1.4?

Featured Replies

i realise this is a long shot but...can anything be done? this being the 8 valve mpi 1.4 already insulated the manifold in heatwrap..certainly makes the engine bay cooler. took the airbox off and 'applied' a scooby sti induction kit i.e. big fat aluminium tube with a filter on the end getting plently of cold air

what else can be done?

(i'm too poor for a vrs...gah...)

Normal atmo engines don't really give much gains when remapped unfortunately...best you can hope for is around 10% increase.....that's what I got when I had my Passat 1.8 20v remapped...124bhp upto 136bhp.

Nothing ECU wise that I know of :(

hmm...

err...anyone up for some engine butchery? sewn on BMW mini supercharger anyone?

engine butchery as in chop out 1.4 and put in 1.8T - oh yeah!

[pull starts his petrol angle grinder! vvvRUMMMMMM!]

If you want seriou power and have the dosh..AAT can get 200+bhp from the 1.4 16v.

Not sure if the 16v head fits the 8v block.

Suspect for the money it costs, you might as well by a couple of vRS's though ;)

Nope, 1.4 8V is OHV, 1.4 16V is DOHC.
