I have a Sony Alpha A300, I want a spare battery but do I get a genuine Sony replacement or get two non genuine for the same price. What's any-ones experience and/or advice with non genuine batteries?

She bought 2 non branded batteries from ebay for £10 (rather than a single £30 Canon one) and they actually seem to last longer than the OEM one

I bought a Jessops own brand battery as a spare for a Fuji - the jessops one was not good compared with the Fuji.

However, if they're both the same type (ie LithiumIon) and the mAhr is the same or greater, then the non branded should be ok

Thanks, yeah both are Lithium-ion and the cheap ones have a higher capacity than the Sony. I'll take a punt at the cheap'os I think.

Bought a 'non-genuine' for the Panasonic FZ28.

Panasonic ones were £29 IIRC - this place (not ebay) was selling them for £15 normally but back in August had a one week offer for £6 !!!!

Works perfectly.

no idea John sorry - i think she just typed in the battery model number and bought the cheapest ones she could find!
