Kia Motors UK has begun to recall 18,103 Rio’s produced between 4 May 2000 and 31 March 2004 to undertake checks and replace the fuel distribution rail. There have been no reported faults in Europe.

Communication of the recall commenced in August and all registered customers in the affected VIN range will receive written notification by the end of October.

Customers have been directed to their nearest dealers to arrange a convenient time to inspect the vehicle and replace the fuel distribution rail. The work should take approximately 45 minutes and will be carried out free of charge.

Rio owners can contact the Kia Helpline for queries they may have regarding this recall on 0118 945 8545 between 9am and 5:30pm.

The response to this recall is monitored by the Vehicle & Operator Services Agency under the terms of the Code of Practice on Vehicle Safety Recalls.
