Connects2 iPod Interface - lose AUX port or not?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just had a Connects2 iPod cable fitted to my Octavia and Stream MP3. The dealer warned me that I would lose the CD changer, but when it was fitted they told me that they had also had to disconnect the AUX port in the armrest. Is this right?

Shouldn't have been necessary as far as I know. I guess it depends on the Connects2 connector - maybe it doesn't have pins in place for the AUX connections. If it does though, it should have just been a case of wiring the existing 3 AUX wires into the Connects2 connector and they should work fine together..

All the connects2 is, is a CD changer emulator, it fools your HU into thinking its a genuine changer, so the wiring should be identical too.

Please someone correct me if Im wrong.

Technically according to the diagram

(thanks to stu's site)

The aux pins (Aux In L, Aux In R, Aux Grd) are separate to the changer pins, but on the same plug. Presumably on the connects2 plug, these pins arent used/blank. If you can get the VW wiring kit (000-979-010) you should be able to insert the 3 pins into the plug and solder them back to the aux in wires.

Im having to do a similar job to mine on wednesday, I only need 1 wire but have to buy 5 so might have some spares for you if you like?

As long as both the head unit supports both a CDC and the aux in (do you use seperate buttons to select CDC and Aux?) and that the connects 2 doesnt mind (it shouldnt, but you never know)

Hope This Helps ;)
