Key Fob Battery Replacement / Reprogramming

Hi All,

I acquired my Fabia Elegance (2000/W) last September and on the whole we're very happy with her, bar a few little niggles like the poor radio aerial and dashboard creaking!

When I got the car, I was given two keys, one of which the owner used as the main key (and I continued to do so) and the other was a spare that had a flat battery. I put a new battery in the spare, but it still isn't working, could it be that it needs reprogramming as it had gone totally flat? It now looks like the battery on my main key fob is giving out, I did try a straight swap of the batteries between the fobs, but neither fob worked so I had to put it back. Will I need to reprogramme the main key after changing the battery too? At the moment, I have to repeatedly press the fob until it locks/unlocks and this can take a while. I'm dreading the day I can't get the car unlocked and I'm blocking someone in at work (unavoidable as parking spaces are in short supply).
