Fabia I R1chard's Project VRS

Featured Replies

Right then here we are :D

Its comming up nearly a year of owning the fabia  time flies when your having fun !

The list of things to buy is ever growing thanks to this site lol :D

There is a few little jobs need doing to the car, i.e. cupra bushes, boost leak general tidy up etc

Since having the car I havent had the time to get things sorted but with my shift change at work I have been on nights so been able to crack on with the car today after getting up mid afternoon :D

So today I sorted the boost leak which has been there since I had the car really :thumbdwn:

The drivers side front bit behind the headlight and arch liner was covered in oil leaking from the boost sensor (cant think of its name) so decided enough was enough and got it sorted, good times

First of all I had to take the bumper off and I used the guide that was posted on here which was a massive help and it was pretty straight forward to do even on my own.

Bumper off and headlight out

Next up was to get the boost pipe off and get all the oil and dirt cleaned up

(forgot to take pics of before it was cleaned)

Got the offending pipe all cleaned up which was basically black, sensor out and a light clean not to damage it, used some gasket sealant when I screwed it back on the pipe as it didnt originally have any which is probably why it was leaking and not exactly being very tight to begin with either !

Looked quite mean with just 1 headlight lol

I cleaned all the other pipes best I could and tightened all the jubilee clips, some of which wernt exactly tight !

Then I put the pipe back on like so and connected the boost sensor

IMG_0952.jpg

Much cleaner than before !

All the pipes are now TIGHT and put back together and headlight back in like so

Good bit of R&R work there

Thanks :D

R&R ?

My slang (accountant term :o) for "repairs and renewals" rather than "rest & relaxation" as most people might think of it.

PS: Have you thought about getting a smaller plate, but with the same legal font? That plate looks a bit oversized for that spot

  • Author

The plate isnt that big really but then again it does look a bit big on them pics ?

I did think about getting one the same as yours but I think I'll just leave the square one for now :)

Yeah - KTP sorted me out nicely with a suitable plate that looks spot-on, whilst retaining font sizes etc as needed.

Nice one. Very tidy job you've done. I'm surprised you didn't polish the underside of the bonnet while it was up. I did mine a while ago, and the door sills and similar areas, despite swmbo thinking I was insane....lol

I cleaned inside all the door shuts last week when it got washed and its dusty again already

Engine bay will get a steam clean/pressure wash some time soon :D

Update:

I had the car in the dealers for its end of warrenty check over last week and it needed the front bushes done which I new about anyways and some bushes on the back done aswell, bumpstops I think they were as they were split.

I mentioned I had the cupra and powerflex bushes ready to fit, they knew exactly what I was talking about in regards to the upgrades and said no problem we will fit them free of charge under warrenty :D:thumbup:

They also said they would reseal all 4 doors so I said I had already done the rear doors and have been fine since :D so they have just sealed the front doors.

I picked the car up today and it feels so much tighter now the bushes have been done, I checked to make sure they did the powerflex ones aswell and they have

The steering wheel is a bit wonky now but I guess thats down to the fitting of the bushes/tracking ?

They didnt say if they did the tracking afterwards but I will get it checked out anyways.

Once again excellent service from my local dealer (telfords carlisle)

Up next is the brakes, still undecided as what to go for ?

Thanks for reading

Hurry up and sell me your car..... :(

and said no problem we will fit them free of charge under warrenty :D:thumbup:
