Is this over-priced?

Featured Replies

Came across this recent autotrader advert. Unfortunately there are no photos at this point, but if description is genuine, it looks a rare find given its low mileage. If its been well cared for, not that all elderly gentlemen would, but more often than not its these sought of folk who spend every Sunday morning giving the car a wash and then garage it. Hopefully the underside is rot free. If anyone lives Northampton way, please go look and report back.

But what of the price? Obviously anything is worth only what someone else deems necessary to acquire it. Are Rapid prices this strong and would it atleast retain this value so long as it was maintained in its current condition with mileage kept appropriately low?

Maybe a bit overpriced, but certainly sounds like a one-off opportunity. Would be a shame for it to be used as anything other than a show car IMO.

Sounds like an absolute minter and it is difficult to put a price on something unique: maybe another purchasing party coming over from the Czech Republic?:)

heh, seeing as you could get 2K just for scrapping it at the moment, definatly not overpriced...

I don't think the Czech posse would be interested in a bog-standard UK model however good it was, but the price doesn't seem over the top if it's as good as stated

Wanna buy my Favorit estate? Only £1,500 - bargain!

It does seem a tad overpriced, especially as they probably gave the guy a couple of hundred for it. I suspect there would be room to negotiate if someone was seriously interested. I'd have thought (bear in mind without actually seeing the car) a fair price would be around £1.7K if it is as mint as they say.

Surely what they gave for it,as a dealer, has no bearing on what it's worth ? Only on whether you would feel less inclined to buy it from them than from the last 'careful owner'.

Don't forget Skodas like these are now getting rarer.

If it is really well kept then it's like an original Mini, enthusiasts will pay and maintain them.

I certainly wouldnt mind a gander!

You have to look at the cost of buying one and getting into mint condition. You will spend more than that on a restoration, so you could say it makes finanical sense to buy a good one to start with.
