I'm just wondering now If to get the engine cover & the battery cover painted gloss black to suit:rubchin:

Very nice mate, love the Glossy look :orb_not_w

WOW, that's clean and tidy. Yes you must get your engine cover and battery box repainted

You can get filling primer that will dry smooth, then buff it before you paint the gloss onto it.

You'll get a nice finish then.

I don't know how heat resistant the primers are though.

That looks v. nice though.

I thought of the heat problem, but I might get a spare cover & use the painted one for shows:D

I'm not too great at spraying, so I will leave it to the sprayer who has done the TB. He has got plenty of black gloss paint so It won't cost too much:thumbup:

I'm not too good either but I have used filling primer before to paint a computer with my brother, it was matte beige with a textured surface, we primed it, sanded the primer a bit with 1800 grit then put a gloss black with flames paint job on it.

Good luck, I admire your car but I am much too lazy to get my car to a "show" standard.

A great job done there mate, looks spot on:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

its a nice finish no one can argue that but personally i would rather see them the same colour.

Me likes.

I reckon you should now lose the engine cover altogether and paint the rocker cover the same as the inlet. That would look sweet.

I like it. Looks great!

Good job. Was the plenum sanded before painting?

I wanted them both the same colour:rotz:.

The inlet manifold was a spare I rubbed down bit by bit over time & a friend who works at a bodyshop offered to spray It for me, then spray the TB while I fitted the manifold.

The thing I didn't know was he sprayed the manifold a silver with upto 15 different shades of silver mixed In that they use for personal jobs ie wheels.

What happened was that after the manifold was painted a lad came & mixed in some black to darken It for a job he was doing:rolleyes::mad: Not only that my friend, due to circumstances at work was unable to spray the TB, so I had to take It elsewhere & every place I went to said that colour matching would be an issue.

The sprayer that did the TB had some black left over from a job & offered to spray It for just the cost of the labour & wouldn't charge me for the paint:thumbup:

So to save costs even more I spent a day rubbing down the TB, which was a bit of a pain beingh small & fiddily:rofl:

I spoke to him yesterday & he doing to do the same cost wise with the other bits I want doing black. Not a bad fella:thumbup:

i agree with the rocker cover though, mines been painted by a lovely mechanic and simply looks like a really clean and tidy rocker cover and should hopefully stay that way.

I am tempted, but I like the cover to hide some of those hoses & wiring:D

I've got a couple of ideas with the engine cover & if that doesn't work or look good I will plumb for the rocker cover to be painted after the Chatsworth show;).

Everything was sanded down before painting:thumbup: I've got no fingers left after:rofl:

Excellent finish on it though... Might "borrow" the idea for my plenum if you don't mind...

Of course I don't mind:rofl:

I like my engine cover too, it looks tidy and has a nice VRS badge on it. I vote paint the engine covers.

I don't know what to do with the design.

Paint It gloss black & leave, paint It gloss black & give It a modern art flicked paint effect with a silver over the gloss black, that I did with great effect on my pug309gti speaker grills or give It a gloss black/silver marble effect that the spayer suggested.

I just fancy doing something different that will stick out:D

Looks nice Oz. Great job.

If it was mine I would paint rocker cover gloss black to match the TB.

Each to ther own though.

As you know i like the polished look too.

I first left my roker cover on , and cut it slightly to stop the DV rubbing. Then ended up removing it completely.

Hope to be fitting it and the TT wishbone bushes tomorrow. Will take some pics.

Would be cool:thumbup: Can you also tell me ho It handles with It on?

A bit off topic but why would an r32 farb be better than the standard, is it because its thicker and therefore stronger?
