Newbie - Mayonnaise on Octy Oil Cap

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Newbie to forum.

Went to see a lovely Octy L & K Spec Edition 1.9 pd 105bhp 31,000k 2005 55 today and fell in love with it. Love that electric seat. Anyway found some mayo under the oil cap so walked away. Having read a couple of posts it could just be condensation, suppose it could be correct as its parked on a forecourt and has been for a few months.

Can anyone give me some advice on this and also what else i should be looking for when viewing these types of cars.

Any ideas on a good price to pay, full Skoda history priced at 7k

All advice appreciated.

Cheers Gav

Like you say the low mileage for the year most likely means the car has only been used for short runs. This can cause condensation inside the engine, therefore you get the mayonaise. The mayo is nothing to worry about in this case, as it will be gone given a decent run and allowed to get upto a proper temperature.

7K is about right for a main dealer, however it is a buyers market and depending on how much interest he has had in the car it maybe possible to haggle a decent discount.

Thanks manny

This car is at a side street garage not main dealer

He has already said he won't haggle on price

Will give 3. Months warranty and 6 months tax

Looking at parkers and what car it's was saying

7.5k private so I thought a steal from a garage

But also read prices can fluctuate on skodas

get the RAC or AA or suchlike to check it..wiil prob cost about £100 or so, but could save you a fortune if there is a prob..if dealer won't let them, then walk away..better waste £100 than £7k !
