Sign of dodgy / fubar'd suspension?

Featured Replies

Was wondering if my suspension might have an empty damper or something wrong. I was playing with a new'ish clio sport 172/182 (and have to add in a straight line there was NOT much in it below 90 (km/h ;)) Those things are QUICK!)

Anyway - I was up to 130 (km/h ;)) quite soon (and comfortably ahead of said clio) and had to negotiate a left hander on the dual carriageway. The car seemed to lurch a bit, and dive down a bit on the right front corner.... This felt all kinds of wrong so I immediately backed off the gas and coasted in 6th gear back down to a sensible speed

Is it possible my (now quite old) KW V1 suspension is on the way out? I think I'm around the 3rd fabia this suspension has been on, and it's been well over 2 years on my car.

bounce test on the relevant corner will tell you whether the damper is iffy, or even more obvious would be oil leaking around the damper shaft

Ah, yes, the good old bounce test - forgot all about it today. Generally the car seems to be OK though. I have two trackdays this coming weekend, so hope to determine then if something is amiss. If it is it sounds like JKM are going to be getting some business for some V2s

Theyre ruggered.

You mean v3 :)

From what I understand from KW's site the V2's are only front adjustable for rebound. Rear is fixed.

Why not price up a rebuild for your v1's?

Can't be without the suspension. I need to research the KW range in greater detail, and if I'm feeling flush perhaps I will get KW to build me up a set of V3s. V2s might be enough though.

Remember a little while ago jason, we had your motor on the lift and spotted a leaky shock, can't remember which one now....

Hmm, vague memory of a rear one. Something to look at long term. Shall see how it does on track first

PS: You still coming on Sunday to the MOD base trackday? Passengers get in free too and you might score PAX lap in something even faster than my car.

Yep I'm in, looks awsome! I think you're right it was a rear. What time are we leaving Sunday?

f***ing early  Actually, not too bad. I want to leave Exmouth at 7am for a relaxed drive there, and it opens about 8am.

Looking at that it looks oily and "Fubar'd".
